The University of New Haven is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to serve as the chair the Department of Mathematics and Physics beginning Fall 2018. Given current and anticipated needs in the department, we are especially interested in hiring someone with a specialization in applied computational mathematics, or in probability and statistics.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate skills and abilities needed to help the department sustain its broad service commitments across the university and to help the department develop and implement new interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs in mathematics. Currently, the department is developing a new Master's program in Applied and Computational Mathematics, and it is serving as a vital partner to the Department of Computer Science that is developing a new Master's program in Data Science.

Required qualifications for the position are a record of teaching excellence in mathematics, a research record supporting tenured status, and progressive leadership experience. Candidates must be fully committed to creating a culture of success for diverse student populations and promoting a diverse and inclusive departmental culture. The candidate will contribute to and nourish the department engagement with the University of New Haven's broad commitment to high impact and innovative teaching practices.
