Assistant Professor – Statistics Mathematics Department SUNY Cortland

POSITION: Full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor APPOINTMENT DATE: 09-01-2022

The State University of New York College at Cortland Mathematics Department invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in Fall 2022.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, or Mathematics with expertise in statistics or probability. (PhD candidate with all but dissertation (ABD) status may be considered with expected complete date by September 2022). Please note: reappointment will not be considered without completed doctorate prior to review date. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least 18 hours of graduate coursework in statistics and/or probability; experience with educational technology; experience with directing undergraduate research projects; experience obtaining external grants or funding; evidence of ability to collaborate with colleagues from other departments; and/or evidence of ability to support an equitable and diverse scholarly environment

THE DEPARTMENT: The Mathematics Department is housed in the College’s School of Arts and Sciences. There are approximately 120 mathematics majors, about two-thirds of whom are intending to be secondary mathematics teachers. The department has 11 full-time faculty members who teach typically three courses a semester, who are active in scholarship, and who are engaged in departmental and college service. The department would like to expand its offerings and expertise in all statistics-related fields.
