UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT EL PASO College of Science Department of Mathematical Sciences Assistant Professor POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking an applied mathematician specialized in computational sciences for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Successful candidates are expected to develop productive research programs and will be required to mentor and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Anticipated appointment date is fall 2014. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of the highly productive departments at UTEP and contributes to interdisciplinary programs across the college. Over the past five years faculty in the department have published more than 300 peer reviewed manuscripts and helped secure more than $15 million in grants. Existing faculty expertise includes algebra and combinatorics, fixed point theory, statistics, bioinformatics, computational science, topology and applied mathematics. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a Ph.D., postdoctoral experience, a strong record of research accomplishments, and the capacity to secure extramural funding.
