*** this position has been closed, and no new applications is accepted. ***

The Department is very pleased to invite applications for four non-tenure track renewable lecturer positions to begin as early as January 2018. These new positions are part of an initiative to modernize and improve lower-division instruction. Candidates must have substantial interest in STEM education reform, in particular, the department seeks to attract individuals with experience in active learning environments such as flipped classrooms. The university’s stated goal is to reduce class sizes across campus and these new positions will allow the mathematics department to support this effort by moving large-lecture calculus courses to smaller, more interactive environments. The individuals hired into these lines will be tasked with implementing this shift and will work together with existing faculty to deliver a high-quality learning experience for UF’s students. This is an exciting time for the University of Florida as it seeks to hire 500 new faculty over the next few years. Lecturers play a vital role in our dynamic instructional enterprise by bringing subject expertise and commitment to excellence in teaching to bear in educating our exceptional undergraduates. In recognition of their importance to the university’s mission, lecturers enjoy significant professional development opportunities, including a well-defined promotion structure, a professional development leave program, and access to travel funds for conference presentations. Summer teaching, both in-person and on-line, is also available. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in mathematics or in mathematics education with substantial coursework in mathematics (at least 18 credit hours of graduate mathematics courses) and a record of success in curriculum development and innovative teaching. Experience with online instruction is a plus. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package. Candidates should submit to MathJobs.Org: (1) a cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a research statement, (4) a teaching statement, and (4) four letters of recommendation. In addition, candidates must submit their official application to the UF Jobs website The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on October 15, 2017, and continue accepting applications until the positions are filled.
