Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics at Norwich University invites dynamic faculty to apply for positions as a lecturer or a visiting assistant professor beginning July 1st, 2024.

The successful candidate for a lecturer position will teach 30 contact hours for the academic year (approximately 15 contact hours per semester). The successful candidate for the visiting assistant professor position will teach 21 contact hours for the academic year (9-12 contact hours per semester) and engage in professional development, scholarship, and service.

Teaching assignments may include preparatory mathematics, general education mathematics, introductory statistics, or the calculus sequence, with the possibility of teaching other course offerings. Lecturers are appointed on a yearly basis and may or may not be renewed. Visiting assistant professors are appointed for one year, with an option for a second year. These are in-person positions; candidates must be able to teach in-person classes on the Norwich Campus in Northfield, VT.

Requirements: Successful candidates will have a minimum of a doctoral degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or related field.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to teach mathematics courses at multiple levels. Such experience should include some of: developmental mathematics and algebra, elementary statistics, precalculus, calculus, or general education mathematics classes.

Successful candidates will have a passion for bringing excellent teaching into the classroom and will be able to engage our undergraduates in the discovery of mathematics. All applicants must have demonstrated commitment to working with a student body that is diverse with respect to socio-economic status, culture, academic interests, and career paths.

All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring immigration sponsorship, including but not limited to non-immigrant visas such as H1B, STEM, or F1, now or in the future.
