The Millennium Nucleus Stochastic Models of Complex and Disordered Systems invites applications for one (1) postdoctoral position to be held in Santiago, Chile. The appointment should begin between January and May 2016 and will finish in December 2016, with the possibility of an extension for up to three (3) years.

The nucleus is a research group composed of four associate investigators from Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad de Chile, plus young researchers, postdocs and students from these and other Chilean universities. The group is funded by a generous grant from the program Iniciativa Científica Milenio of the Chilean goverment. For more information please go to the website

Applicants should have a PhD in mathematics and a strong background and research promise in probability. The main research areas of the nucleus are random walks in random media, the KPZ universality class and interacting particle systems. The position does not require teaching and is geared towards providing the postdoctoral researcher with the tools to develop an independent, though collaborative, research program.

The salary is approx. 1.600.000 Chilean pesos per month (about USD$2.300 at current exchange rates). The postdoctoral position will be based either at Universidad Católica de Chile or Universidad de Chile.
