Position Description:    

Frostburg State University, Department of Mathematics, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Instructor/Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2020. Salary commensurate with experience and University System of Maryland benefits package included.

The Department of Mathematics is located in the state-of-the-art Gira Center for Communications and Information Technology opened in 2014. We support a number of academic programs in addition to serving approximately 70 students who major or minor in Mathematics. Upcoming developments in the department include redesign of the statistics course (MATH 280) that is newly required of our majors and design of new programs to provide additional support for students who place low on the University placement exam (ACHIEVE Program).

Responsibilities: Teach a variety of undergraduate Mathematics courses from introductory to advanced. Advise majors, assist with program assessment and development of materials to support active learning. Active participation in departmental and University service and development of a program of scholarship that includes undergraduate students are expected.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Mathematics, or closely related field required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Exceptional ABD may be considered initially for appointment at the rank of Instructor, but must complete doctorate in order to enter the tenure track. Must be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
