The “Geometry, Groups and Dynamics” division at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS) invites applications for

Postdoctoral Research Positions.

MPI MiS is a research Institute located in Leipzig, Germany, and the Geometry, Groups and Dynamics division is directed by Prof. Anna Wienhard. Research group leaders are Samantha Fairchild, James Farre, and Peter Smillie. The group is active and growing; a list of current scientists can be found here: https://www.mis.mpg.de/geometry-groups-dynamics/members.html

We are looking for applicants with a strong background in geometry, topology, or dynamics.

The MPI offers an excellent environment for conducting mathematical research with:

  • no teaching duties (with the possibility to teach an advanced course in our international graduate school),
  • funding available for scientific activities such as visitors and workshops
  • attentive administrative staff and helpful international office

Contracts range between 1 and 3 years, with flexible starting and ending dates. No knowledge of German language is required.
