Comments: UMKC is known as Kansas City’s university. The School of Science and Engineering (SSE) was established through UMKC Forward, a university initiative that called for the joining of all the computing, science, mathematics and engineering programs into a single academic unit.

This was a bold move by the university to create multidisciplinary learning, academics, research and civic outreach for the benefit of all students, faculty, alumni and friends. This new structure creates opportunities for shared experiences, interdisciplinary course options, broader learning engagement and inspired new collaborative research endeavors. UMKC students are always looking to what's next, and so is our university. UMKC has an ambitious vision for the future. We hope you'll join us as we work to become the best university we possibly can.
