Position Description:    

The Pressé lab @ Arizona State University (ASU) is seeking a strong and motivated postdoctoral scholar for theoretical work in the area of biophysics. Strong analytical and programming skills are required.

Start date as early as Fall 2017. Project: modeling out-of-equilibrium phenomena and stochastic processes relevant at the scale of single molecule biophysics up to the level of whole cells. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with experimentalists and graduate students. Salary and benefit package are competitive. The position is for one year and renewable for additional years.

Essential functions of the position: • Apply and develop stochastic models relevant to single molecule biophysics • Write technical reports and manuscripts Essential skills/qualifications • A Ph.D. completed 5 or fewer years ago in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Chemistry or directly related area • Outstanding knowledge and skills in analytical and numerical approaches to solving problems in applied mathematics preferably including stochastic processes and statistical physics • Extensive programming experience • Demonstrated verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, author technical and scientific reports and publications, and deliver scientific presentations Desired skills/experience • Python/Matlab • Stochastic processes • Statistical physics To apply, please submit as a single PDF document: (1) a cover letter which includes the names and email addresses of three references, (2) a curriculum vitae with a list of publications.
