About the Natural Science and Mathematics Division:

The Natural Science and Mathematics Division is a multi-disciplinary division of eight faculty members within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. We have approximately 90 undergraduate students in 4 majors (Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies). Most of our mathematics majors are also pre-service K-12 teachers. We also provide general education courses in mathematics and science for the entire student population.

Job Description:

The Natural Science and Mathematics Division of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences of Lesley University is seeking a full-time, 9-month faculty member to teach courses in Mathematics that support the Mathematics major as well as foundational liberal arts requirements in mathematics.

We seek a candidate who will teach a wide variety of courses (7 courses per academic year), continue with a program of research/scholarship, and contribute to service in the division, college, and university. The candidate's particular area of specialization within Mathematics is open. Lesley serves an increasingly diverse student population, including traditional age college students, adult students, and students from partnering community college institutions, so experience working with diverse students from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds is essential. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop new courses (face-to-face, hybrid, or online) based on interest and need.

Requirements:

•An earned Ph.D. in Mathematics or Mathematics Education (with significant mathematics coursework) by June 30, 2018.

•A record of successful mathematics teaching at the undergraduate level.

•Ability to demonstrate engagement in academic scholarship, and have a plan for continued scholarship.

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.

Additional Information:

Compensation commensurate with experience.
