Assistant Professor of Mathematics – East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania

Job Summary:
The successful candidate will teach four courses or the equivalent per semester with a maximum of three different preparations at the undergraduate or sometimes the graduate levels. Course load will include courses for majors as well as general education and service courses, and methods and technology courses for mathematics education majors. Additional duties include mentoring and advising undergraduate students, engaging in scholarly activities and providing service to the Department, the University and community. Service may include working with masters and doctoral students in other fields or supervising student teachers and supporting future STEM grants. Teaching may include distance learning and/or off campus teaching.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D, or Ed.D. in mathematics or mathematics education with a strong background in mathematics and education. ABD candidates will be considered, but a clear statement of progress toward degree is required. Candidate must have a doctorate to be considered for tenure. Previous college teaching experience and teaching mathematics in grades 7 to 12 are required.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with a background in mathematics education and to candidates who have demonstrated interest in research about and a research agenda in mathematics education. Preference will also be given to candidates with a commitment to teaching undergraduate mathematics, including service and general education courses. Preference will be given to candidates with experience using technology as a tool for effective teaching. Additionally, preference will be given to those candidates with experience in dealing with diverse populations.

Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
