FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor’s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Mathematics Department to begin in the Spring 2023 semester, with tenure-tracking to begin effective with the Fall 2023 semester.

The Mathematics Department at City Tech offers three degree programs: an associate degree (AS) in Computer Science, a baccalaureate degree (BS) in Applied Mathematics, and a baccalaureate degree (BS) in Mathematics Education.

The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research program, be committed to excellence in teaching, provide service to the Mathematics Department and the School of Arts and Science, and to support the mission of the college and university.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Mathematics Education is required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will be an analytical, detail-oriented individual with a commitment to quality education for a diverse student body. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

COMPENSATION

CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.

$68,861 to $88,602 commensurate with experience.
