CY Cergy Paris University, AGM Research Center in Mathematics
Position Description
Vacancy: 2-year full-time postdoctoral grant in Probability and Statistical Physics -
CY Cergy Paris University
Mathematical modelling of complex systems often involves combining deterministic structures with probabilistic methods and stochastic processes to capture variability, uncertainty, long-term dynamics, and multiscale behaviours. The AGM Research Center is seeking a postdoctoral researcher, supervised by Paul Dario (CY Cergy Paris Université, AGM) and Marie Kratz (ESSEC, IDO dept. & CREAR), to contribute to the development and analysis of models within this broad framework.
Located in the Paris area, the AGM Research Center and ESSEC offer a rich and dynamic scientific environment, with active groups in geometric analysis, mathematical physics, PDEs, probability, statistics, extreme value theory, risk analysis, and data analytics. The postdoctoral researcher will benefit from many opportunities for interaction across these fields and may participate in a new joint initiative on the mathematics of climate, which combines tools from probability, statistics, PDEs, and extreme-value theory to address climate-related questions.
Qualifications:
Completed PhD degree in Mathematics, with a solid background in at least one of the following areas: probability, statistics, PDEs, mathematical physics (or even mathematics for climate)
Readiness and enthusiasm to collaborate across (mathematical) disciplines
Salary and terms:
A full-time post-doctoral grant at CY Cergy Paris University & ESSEC CREAR from March 2026 to December 2027 (flexible starting date)
Net salary of approximately €2,500 per month (which includes social and health coverage)
No teaching responsibilities
Travel opportunities for attending scientific conferences and participating in research visits
