The Department of Mathematics at St. Mary's University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2022. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, maintaining an active program of scholarship, and engaging in university service. Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in statistics, applied mathematics, or mathematics by August 2022. ABD candidates with an expected completion date within one year of appointment will be considered. The successful candidate will be able to teach upper-level undergraduate statistics courses as well as other undergraduate mathematics courses across the curriculum, and possibly specialized courses in actuarial science and/or data science (experience teaching all such courses preferred). Further, as St. Mary's University - a Catholic Marianist University - fosters the formation of people in faith and educates leaders for the common good through community, integrated liberal arts and professional education, and academic excellence, the successful candidate is expected to be on campus and to teach in-person. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate an interest in affiliating with the University’s Center for Catholic Studies and working to integrate Mathematics and Catholic social teaching.
