The Department of Mathematics at Rowan University is seeking to hire one or more tenure-track faculty to begin their appointment in September 2023. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field. This search is part of a broader, multi-year faculty hiring initiative across the College of Science & Mathematics. 

Subject areas in statistics and data science that are of particular interest to us include, but are not limited to: 

 - statistical methods in genetic epidemiology, eHealth and telemedicine; 
 - statistical methods for big data, deep and reinforcement learning; 
 - climate informatics 

Subject areas in applied mathematics that are of particular interest to us include, but are not limited to: 

 - application of mathematics for medicine and biology; 
 - geophysical fluid dynamics, transport and dispersion analysis, control and dynamical systems; 
- optimization methods for data science, quantum information science 

Preference will be given to candidates with a track record and/or potential to establish and sustain a strong research program. We anticipate hiring at the Assistant Professor level, but outstanding candidates may be considered at the Associate or Full Professor levels. The successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, highly visible, extramurally funded research program with outstanding scholarship, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to the various service endeavors in the Department, College, and University. Opportunities for collaboration exist within the Department, the College of Science & Mathematics, as well as with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, a newly approved School of Veterinary Medicine, partnership with Virtua Health, the College of Engineering, other colleges at the university, and within Rowan’s engagement with New Jersey renewable energy initiatives (in particular off-shore wind). 

The Department of Mathematics is one of six departments in the College of Science & Mathematics and offers B.A. in Mathematics, B.S. in Mathematics, an M.A. in Mathematics, and an M.S. in Data Science. Additional relevant undergraduate and graduate degree programs (including a Ph.D.) are currently under development at both the department and college levels.
