Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS). The Department is a growing and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. DMS is internationally known for its research in a range of areas and offers an excellent education to its students. The Department's research is structured in themes in Mathematics and in Data Science. We have particular strengths in Algebra, Geometry and Discrete Mathematics, and in Analysis and Mathematical Physics. We are interested in expanding our expertise in these areas, or in any other area of mathematics that align with the department's research strategy, for example financial mathematics and numerical analysis. We are now looking to appoint a Lecturer in Mathematics to be a part of the department expansion strategy to improve its research profile in mathematics and the provision of mathematics teaching and learning. The post is within part of the department expansion strategy to improve the provision of mathematics teaching and learning and will include teaching on mathematics & its applications courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may also include delivering modules with existing lecture materials and developing new master level mathematics modules. Supervising Mathematics and possibly Data Science master students will be a key responsibility. Applicants should have evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes and evidence of a research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile, along with a relevant doctoral level research degree in Mathematics or related discipline or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD. You will also have experience of designing and planning learning activities, developing effective learning environments and approaches to student support and guidance. |
