Job Summary

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Purdue University Fort Wayne invites applications for a tenure track position in Data Science and Applied Statistics (contingent on available funding). Preferred start for this position is January 2023 but start in August 2023 is a possibility. Applicants for this position should hold or expect to have completed a PhD in Data Science, Statistics, or related field by the start of employment. Candidates should indicate their research interests in machine learning/data science, multivariate statistics, discrete data analysis, stochastic processes, and other fields. Faculty members teach undergraduate/graduate courses as well as conduct scholarly work leading to publication. New members are expected to further enhance the departmental reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Appropriate department and university service is also expected.  Rank is at the Assistant Professor level. The salary and fringe benefits are competitive.

The Department

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers master's programs in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics, and bachelor's programs in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science and Applied Statistics, and Mathematics Teaching. The department also has a strong Center of Excellence in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The Department of Mathematics is committed to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty effort, including research, teaching, and service/engagement.
