The Department of Statistical Sciences at Wake Forest University invites applications for two Teacher-Scholar Postdoctoral Fellows in Statistics beginning July 2023. These are one-year positions renewable up to three years total, contingent on satisfactory performance. Teacher-Scholar Postdoctoral Fellows will collaborate actively with one or more of the permanent faculty in our department on research, and teach two courses per semester with the opportunity to teach both introductory courses as well as more advanced courses in their area of interest.

Because of the blend of research and teaching required for this position, we seek candidates committed to excellence in both aspects. A Ph.D. is required, and primary consideration will be given to candidates whose research interests overlap with existing faculty. Applications are invited from all areas of statistics, biostatistics and probability. We also welcome applications from candidates in related quantitative disciplines who wish to deepen their exposure and research in statistics. We welcome diversity and encourage inclusivity, and seek applicants with demonstrated success or interest in working with diverse populations.

The department has twelve permanent faculty members, whose research interests include the areas of: actuarial science, applied probability, Bayesian methods, bioinformatics, biostatistics, causal inference, clinical trials, environmental statistics, foundations of statistics, functional data analysis, measurement error, missing data, networks, record linkage, spatial epidemiology, spatio-temporal models, and statistics education.  Statistics programs within the department include both a B.S. in Statistics, a B.S. in Applied Statistics, a B.S. in Mathematical Business, and an M.S. in Statistics. We also offer a Graduate Certificate in Data Science.  More information can be found at https://stats.wfu.edu/.

A complete application will include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement, graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. The letter of application should explain why the teaching and research environment at Wake Forest is a good fit for the candidate, and identify specific departmental faculty whose research interests may be a good match. Review of applications will begin on January 15, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled. Any questions or concerns should be addressed to Rob Erhardt (erhardrj@wfu.edu). Applicants should post materials electronically at https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/list/21242
