Mathematics with specialization in mathematical statistics.

Subject decription

The subject comprises mathematics with focus on probability theory and statistics theory, including applications thereof.

Duties

Independent research in the subject area, as well as the development and implementation of education in the subject area at basic, advanced, and doctoral levels, including supervision of undergraduate degree projects and doctoral students. Participation in some administrative duties and knowledge exchange with society at large is expected. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If needed, a language support plan will be devised at the time of employment.

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have: 1. been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve, and 2. demonstrated teaching expertise.

Grounds of assessment

The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required as a qualification for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply in relation to the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is the applicant has

• research expertise in the subject field, among other things demonstrated by publications in high quality international journals. • pedagogical skills in the subject field, including high-quality teaching of significant scope at basic or advanced level, as well as student supervision.

Of second highest importance is the applicant has

• expertise to develop and lead activities and staff. This includes knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality. • ability to work in collaboration with others.

It is also important that the applicant has

•administrative skills. •the ability to pursue third-stream activities and also provide information about research and development work.
