Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2019. While qualified candidates from all fields will be considered, preference will be given to those candidates whose research and teaching interests encompass some aspect of applied or interdisciplinary mathematics, statistics, or data analysis.

Demonstrated promise of excellent and innovative teaching, clear potential for outstanding achievements in research, and a desire for a career in a liberal arts environment are essential. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the mathematics program of an energetic department, to teach a broad range of topics in undergraduate mathematics, and to involve students in a variety of mathematical activities outside the classroom.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in one of the mathematical sciences, including statistics, or expect to complete all requirements for the degree by September 2019. The regular teaching load for this position is five courses per academic year. The College is prepared to assist newly appointed faculty members in establishing a research program; this assistance may include start-up funds and a paid pre-tenure leave.
