£34,805 - £52,560 pa

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Liverpool is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in the area of Actuarial Mathematics to invigorate its research and teaching profile. Expansion in this field is of strategic importance to the University and as such there is major investment behind its Institute for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics. You should have a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Mathematics and excellent research achievements in Actuarial Mathematics or related fields including frequent publications in internationally recognised journals. You should have experience of teaching both small and large groups of students, student supervision and curriculum development.

You will play a part in the development of the institute through extending existing research networks within the University, building new networks nationally and internationally and contributing to the development of the institutes' role within the region. We encourage applications from mathematicians working in any field of Actuarial Mathematics. However, exceptional individuals with an excellent track record of research in other mathematical areas related to actuarial/financial problems will also be considered.

The School of Physical Sciences is an Athena SWAN Silver Award holder and is committed to encouraging, developing and supporting women in their research and academic careers. We are working to create an inclusive environment which values a diverse workforce and we recognise that many individuals value flexibility in their work/life balance, therefore these posts may be taken up on a Part-Time (a minimum of 0.5 FTE) or Full-Time basis (including a Job Share).

The post is available from October 2021 and interviews will be held (virtually) on 6th or 7th September 2021.
