The Science and Mathematics Faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic campus at Arizona State University invites applications for one (1) Applied Mathematics Instructor position for the 2024-2025 academic year. The successful candidate will teach mathematics and statistics courses; work alongside mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics faculty in order to provide students in those disciplines with a solid set of mathematics, computational, and statistical skills appropriate to their chosen profession. Course assignments are at the graduate/undergraduate levels and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, in-person, hybrid) on the Polytechnic campus. The course load is determined by the faculty head and typically consists of five classes per semester.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Candidate must reside in Arizona or be willing to relocate.

Required Qualifications:

-Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education or closely related field as a minimum qualification at time of appointment

-Evidence of excellent teaching effectiveness

-Demonstrated experience using technology for mathematics instruction including software and simulations, online homework systems, and graphing calculators; working with learning management systems such as Canvas

Desired Qualifications:

-Terminal degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education or closely related field at time of appointment

-Experience teaching undergraduate statistics courses, both in-person and online formats

-Experience with R and the use of technology in teaching statistics

-Experience teaching business calculus, calculus for engineers, linear algebra and differential equations, both in-person and online formats

-Evidence of activities consistent with the ASU Charter and Design Aspirations
