| The Brandeis University Departments of Mathematics and Physics
invite applications for a postdoctoral position. This position
is funded by an NSF Focused Research Grant covering the subject
of generalized geometries in string theory. Therefore, we are seeking qualified applicants
in mathematics or physics with expertise and interest in generalized geometries, flux compactifications,
and/or closely related areas in string theory. We are especially interested in candidates
who can work with both mathematicians and physicists. A PhD and demonstrated
excellence in research are required. The initial appointment is for one year and
will be renewable for up to three years, contingent on funding and performance.
While this is a research position, the applicant, if qualified, may have the option of teaching up to two courses per year in the department of mathematics. Applications should include an AMS coversheet, a curriculum vita, and three letters of recommendation. For applicants interested in teaching, an additional letter addressing teaching effectiveness should also be submitted. Applications should be submitted through http://www.mathjobs.org, no later than December 15. Further questions about the position may be directed to Prof. Albion Lawrence (Physics) at albion@brandeis.edu, and to Prof. Bong Lian (Mathematics), at lian@brandeis.edu. Brandeis University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community, and strongly encourages applications from women and minority candidates. |
