The Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences invites applications for full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for a Data Scientist beginning August 21, 2023. The current areas of expertise within the department include distributions, modeling, Bayesian analysis, actuarial and risk analysis, data analytics and statistics education.
Successful candidates will work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment within the Department, across the campus, and with external partners.
The required qualifications include:
1. A PhD in Data Science, Statistics, or closely related field by August 21, 2023.
2. Applicants must demonstrate a clear record of academic or professional experience and expertise in data science.
3. Applicants must possess the ability to develop an extramurally funded research program in Data Science or its applications.
4. Applicants must demonstrate high-quality research and are committed to excellent teaching.
5. Applicants must possess ability to mentor at both undergraduate and graduate levels (MS and PhD).
6. Applicant’s responsibilities include department, university, and community/professional service.
7. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to and support of diversity, equity and inclusiveness.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants with post-doctoral teaching experience is preferred.
