The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Delaware State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Mathematics Education starting in the Fall of 2017.

The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, and Mathematics Education; Master's degrees in Mathematics; and Ph.D.’s. in Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics. Delaware State University (DSU) has a diverse faculty and student population of more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. DSU is located in Dover, Delaware and has campuses in Wilmington and Georgetown, Delaware.

Qualifications: An earned Doctorate in Mathematics Education and a strong mathematics background is required. A Master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences and/or mathematics teaching experience in elementary, middle, or high school is preferred. The candidate must have exceptional oral and written communication skills, demonstrate excellence in effective teaching and scholarly potential. Interest and experience with diverse populations, educational technology, and assessment is preferred.

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate mathematics courses, teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics education K-12 content and methods courses; provide academic advising; provide student teaching supervising in the field; work collaboratively with colleagues in the department of Mathematical Sciences, the Education Department, and K-12 schools; actively participate in university and community service; participate or demonstrate leadership in curriculum development and professional development activities.
