Position Description:    

The Drake University Department of Mathematics and Computer Science seeks an outstanding teacher for a two-year, nine-month, full-time position at the level of Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning in August 2024.

The course load is seven 3-credit-hour courses per year. A successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of mathematics classes both introductory in nature (e.g. precalculus and calculus) and upper-level (e.g. differential equations and numerical analysis).

Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and incorporate active learning and best-teaching practices in their instruction, such as: groupwork, technology, and real-world applications. Support is available for candidates who wish to professionally develop in ways that meet the needs of our department and students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion or near completion of a PhD in mathematics or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants pursuing applied mathematics.
