Applications are invited for two positions as Assistant Research Professor of Mathematics. Candidates should have completed a doctorate as of August 1, 2009 and show definite promise in research and teaching. The teaching load will be two courses during one semester and one course during the other, so that the appointee will have additional time for research. The appointments are for three years; they begin on August 1, 2009. Applicants are asked to submit (a) an AMS standard coversheet; (b) a vita; (c) a description of current and past research (1-3 pages); (d) a plan for future research, and have at least four letters of recommendation, including one which evaluates teaching, sent directly to Duke by mid January. Each applicant is also requested to include in their materials the name(s) of one or more members of the faculty of the Department of Mathematics at Duke working in their general area of research.
