Description 
The Department of Mathematics at Earlham College invites applications for a tenure-track position in applied mathematics at the rank of assistant professor or higher, beginning in August 2022. The position is open to candidates in any area of applied mathematics

The successful candidate is passionate about teaching mathematics to small classes of engaged students and has a plan for continued scholarly work. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are able to teach courses in differential equations, mathematical modeling, and statistics. Moreover, candidates should be willing to take advantage of opportunities to participate in and contribute to the Earlham community.
 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities 
  • Managing a teaching load of three courses per semester 
  • Advising of undergraduate students is required after the first year
  • Attending weekly meetings with the department and the natural science division, and biweekly meetings with the faculty
  • Contributions to campus committees
Experience & Qualifications 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. or ABD in mathematics or in a closely related field
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience in Applied Mathematics
Bonus Points For:
  • Ability to contribute to the Data Science major and/or other affiliated majors such as Computer Science, Physics, Economics, etc.
  • Ability and interest in engaging in research with undergraduate students (paid opportunities for undergraduate research exist during the summer)
  • Interest in engagement with the broader Earlham community
