Tenure-track Faculty in Mathematics (TTFM)

Subject to the availability of funding, the School of Mathematics at Georgia Tech expects to make one or more tenure-track faculty hires in Pure and Applied Mathematics and Statistics. This position presents exceptional opportunities in foundational research, training programs, and cross-disciplinary connections. Priority will be given to candidates strengthening connections within the School as well as across Georgia Tech. The School of Math is a key player in several cross-disciplinary institutes, centers, and programs at Georgia Tech, including PhD programs in Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization (ACO), Computational Science and Engineering (CSE), Bioinformatics, Quantitative Bioscience (QBioS), and Machine Learning (ML@GT). The School plays leadership roles in the NSF-Simons Center – The Southeast Center for Mathematics and Biology, in a cross-disciplinary NSF-funded center in data science, and hosts an NSF-RTG in Geometry and Topology (GTGT).

Priority will be given to those candidates who: (1) show the potential to carry out research of exceptional quality at Georgia Tech; (2) complement existing strengths in the School of Mathematics; (3) enhance connections to programs and Institutes at Georgia Tech; (4) have strong potential for external funding; (5) demonstrate enthusiasm for supervision of junior researchers at all levels; (6) demonstrate an exceptional commitment to teaching and mentoring of students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; (7) show promise for contributing to other School of Math and Georgia Tech strategic priorities, such as intra- and interdisciplinary connections; and (8) show the potential for activities that improve diversity, equity and inclusion in the mathematical sciences.

Appointments at the assistant professor level are preferred, but exceptional candidates at all ranks will be considered. A Ph.D. (or its equivalent) in Mathematics or Statistics or a closely related field is required. Applications should consist of a curriculum vitae, including a list of publications, a summary of future research plans, evidence of teaching interest and abilities, and at least three letters of reference. Candidates for Associate and Full Professor positions should submit a statement outlining their vision for leadership and service as a senior faculty member at Georgia Tech.

Applications should be submitted directly to http://www.mathjobs.org. The Georgia Tech official website for applications is https://hr.gatech.edu/careers. Some candidates who do not apply there at first may later be asked to send their applications to that site for further processing. In exceptional circumstances where electronic submission is not possible, applications may be sent to the Hiring Committee, School of Mathematics, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, 30332-0160, USA. For full consideration, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all materials by November 15, 2022. However, consideration of applications is ongoing until positions are filled. Applications by highly qualified candidates from groups underrepresented in the mathematical sciences are particularly encouraged, as well as those by candidates exhibiting the skills and commitment to engage productively with diverse communities.
