The Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology invites applications for tenure-track or tenured open rank faculty positions beginning in August 2023. Preference will be given to candidates whose expertise aligns and strengthens the research of the Department.

The Department of Applied Mathematics, in the College of Computing, has 16 tenured/tenure-track faculty, and constitutes a vibrant research hub where faculty members conduct research in many areas of mathematics and statistics with a wide range of applications. Our research is funded by various government agencies and private companies.  The new hire is expected to bolster our ongoing research and teaching in applied analysis, computational mathematics, data science, discrete mathematics, financial mathematics, stochastics, and statistics.

The Department of Applied Mathematics is the only mathematics/statistics department at Illinois Tech that offers BS through PhD degrees, including a nationally ranked Master of Data Science in partnership with the Department of Computer Science, and the newly launched Master of FinTech. We teach mathematics, statistics, and data science to nearly all undergraduate students at Illinois Tech and many graduate students as well.

The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related discipline.  Candidates must also have demonstrated the potential for outstanding, externally fundable research and be dedicated to excellent teaching.
