Indiana University Bloomington Department of Mathematics Clinical Professor Position Director of General Education Mathematical Modelling

The Department of Mathematics at Indiana University seeks a full-time teaching faculty member to serve as Director of General Education Mathematical Modelling. The position begins August 1, 2022. The appointment will be as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor, depending on experience. The Director will lead and support current and future faculty in revising, developing and executing an excellent program of study in foundational mathematics.

Responsibilities will include teaching courses, leading curriculum review and reform of courses ranging from Finite Math to Precalculus to Calculus 2, supporting course coordinators and other mathematics instructional leaders, working with departmental leadership in the hiring of teaching faculty, and representing the department to other units on campus. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the mathematical sciences or mathematics education, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching and knowledge of curricular best practices. We seek candidates with the courage and curiosity to pursue novel and innovative methods of thinking and teaching; a commitment to inclusive and student-centered pedagogy and teaching innovation; an interest in establishing a long-term career with the Department; the administrative, organizational, and mentoring skills required to interact with and lead complex teams; and the mathematical background necessary to effectively interact with research faculty and graduate students.
