The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Memorial University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor. We invite exceptional candidates with broad interests in all areas of Computational Applied Mathematics. However, the preference will be given to candidates whose research focus is on Fluid Dynamics and Scientific Computing, seeking to reinforce and expand our existing strengths in interdisciplinary research: computational fluid dynamics, numerical optimization, numerical analysis, or computational PDEs. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

All applicants must have an earned doctorate in Mathematics, or a related discipline, and demonstrate a record of an active and excellent research in the field of Applied Mathematics. They are welcome to demonstrate their contribution to publications, open-source and community software, or industrial research and development. Postdoctoral or equivalent experience in related areas of research is desired, but not required.

The successful candidate is expected to establish an interdisciplinary and externally funded research program and have an enthusiasm for training and teaching a diverse group of students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. They will contribute to the department and the university through a commitment to collegial service and governance, by supporting a broad community through principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and through professional and outreach activities. They will also demonstrate the ability to contribute to the teaching duties of the department, including Applied Mathematics courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
