Rice University’s Department of Statistics is dedicated to the advancement of the scientific discipline of statistics, the innovative application of statistical science to meet modern scientific, engineering and societal challenges, the expert education of students in statistics and other disciplines, and leadership in the statistical sciences broadly construed, at the local, national and international levels.

The Department of Statistics seeks applicants to fill one full-time lecturer position. Duties include teaching both undergraduate level and masters level statistics courses, including mathematical statistics. The teaching load is 2-3 courses per semester and some service to the Department should be expected. Salary commensurate with experience. The appointment is for 1-2 years with the possibility of renewal.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field. A strong background in R is required. The Ph.D. degree should be deferred by December 31, 2022.
