Position Description

St. Lawrence University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor in statistics or applied mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics at the beginning of August 2026. Exceptional candidates with the appropriate experience will also be considered for a position at the associate professor or full professor level. Our department currently has fourteen full-time faculty members and supports robust majors in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, and Cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute either to core courses in statistics or to courses related to applied mathematics, both at the upper and introductory levels. A successful candidate will demonstrate commitment and strategies to supporting and mentoring undergraduate research and scholarship. Salary range $80,000-90,000 annually; the starting rate will be determined by education, experience, skills, disciplinary training, and other factors protected by law.

The teaching expectation at St. Lawrence is three courses per semester. The university offers support for conference travel as well as an option for a pre-tenure sabbatical. 

Minimum Qualifications     
Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field by August 15, 2026, a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting, and evidence of excellence in teaching and research potential. Candidates who are ABD (All But Dissertation) are also welcome to apply.
