The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Smith College invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position in the research group of Becca Thomases, to begin on July 1, 2024. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in some of the group's research areas, which includes analysis and simulations of complex fluids with applications in life sciences and engineering, while also developing their own independent research agenda. The position has a teaching load of one course per semester, with an expectation of involvement in mentoring undergraduate students research.

Dedicated teacher-scholars in all areas of applied mathematics are encouraged to apply. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in a related field, a strong commitment to teaching, and a high potential for research. The successful candidate will be expected to help advance a new applied mathematics track in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Smith College.

We are the home of the Center for Women in Mathematics. In addition to courses in theoretical mathematics and applied mathematics, we co-host a Five College certificate in the biomathematical sciences, and with our award-winning post-baccalaureate program, we send a cohort of students to graduate school each year.
