These teaching postdoctoral positions are part of a training program intended for individuals with a teaching career in mind. These positions are similar to postdoctoral positions in research except that the emphasis is on teaching and scholarly activities pertaining to teaching. Teaching postdocs have the opportunity to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses and to participate in departmental activities such as research seminars, curriculum reform, projects with undergraduates, and outreach activities like teacher training programs. This postdoc program is ideal for those planning to teach at a four-year college or master’s degree granting institution.

Responsibilities are to teach up to nine units per semester across the full spectrum of lower and upper division courses, to maintain and build an active research program, and to participate fully in the activities of the Department.

By the time of the appointment, candidates are expected to have a PhD and an excellent research record or potential, as well as a strong commitment to teaching.
