INTRODUCTION

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Connecticut (UConn) is pleased to invite applications for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2022.

UConn Stamford is an urban campus at the center of one of Fairfield County’s robust business communities, just 45 minutes from New York, which gives students ample opportunities for internships and careers. The campus serves 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including many first-generation college students. It offers 14 undergraduate majors, including business administration, digital media and design, computer science, and history.

Founded in 1881, the UConn is a Land Grant and Sea Grant institution and member of the Space Grant Consortium. It is the state’s flagship institution of higher education and includes a main campus in Storrs, CT, four regional campuses throughout the state, and 13 Schools and Colleges, including a Law School in Hartford, and Medical and Dental Schools at the UConn Health campus in Farmington. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in mathematics (granted by August 2022), a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching, the ability to contribute through teaching and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with educational technologies, such as online homework systems, message boards, videos, smartboards, and interactive technological teaching tools. Experience teaching large lectures.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2022. This will be a one-year duration appointment. The successful candidate's academic appointment will be at the Stamford campus. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The teaching load for this position is seven courses during the academic year.
