| Description: The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks to fill at least two (and possibly as many as six, depending on funding) postdoctoral positions, with the title of part-time instructor/postdoctoral associate, beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year.
For one position, there will be a strong preference for applicants working in algebraic geometry. For the other positions we will entertain applications from all fields of mathematics represented in our department, including harmonic analysis, operator theory, differential geometry, algebra, representation theory, numerical analysis, mathematical biology, probablility, geometric topology, mathematical physics, number theory, and mathematics education.
Each position is of two years' duration, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. Duties consist of teaching three courses per year and participation in the research life of the Department, including the pursuit of an original research program. Applicants are encouraged to identify a member of the current faculty with whom they would like to work.
Salary range: $42,000-45,000, plus benefits, for the 9-month academic year, with the possibility of travel funds and summer salary depending on availability.
Eligibility: Applicants must exhibit potential for significant research and high quality teaching.
