Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in mathematics or statistics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte starting August, 2023. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics or other relevant areas of mathematics; a strong research interest in mathematical finance broadly construed; a commitment to establishing a productive research program; and a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to building a culturally diverse work, research, and teaching environment. Minimum Experience/Education UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience: This position is part of the department’s effort to support the math finance program at UNC Charlotte. Therefore, preference will be given to applicants with expertise and experience in stochastic analysis, applied and computational methods such as Monte Carlo, theory of risk, probability theory, machine learning, high-frequency trading, statistical finance, including other areas of mathematics and statistics that overlap with recent trends in mathematical finance broadly speaking; a strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and commensurate experience; and potential for external funding.
