Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for one postdoctoral position in the research group led by Dr. Pedro D. Maia. The postdoctoral fellow will be a member of the Mathematics department. Teaching undergraduate courses is expected for the position. Salary and rank will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow include both teaching and research. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to conduct research under the supervision of Dr. Maia and to co-mentor students in the lab. The Maia Lab interests include applying data-driven methods, machine learning, and broad applied mathematics expertise to a variety of problems in computational neuroscience (neurology) and other biological (or medical) scenarios. The responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will include: teaching undergraduate mathematics courses and working closely with the Learning Resource Center in the Department of Mathematics. The postdoctoral fellow has teaching responsibility of 3 courses each year.

The postdoctoral fellow appointment is for up to two years. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service.
