Position Description:    

The University of Western Ontario invites applications for a three-year Limited-Term faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (non-Tenure track).  The anticipated start date is September 1, 2024.  The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

The position was created to support the teaching mission of the Faculty of Science.  Duties are divided between Teaching (80%) and Service (20%) activities.  Teaching duties will include up to 4.0 full-course equivalents at the undergraduate level over a 12-month period.  They may also include the development and delivery of online curriculum.  Service duties will include support for the administrative coordination of courses and departmental committee duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

* a PhD in Mathematics or related field (completed by the start date);

* previous experience teaching mathematics at the university level;

* evidence of effective teaching practice.

 

Assets:

* a degree in Education;

* training in pedagogy or leadership related to teacher/educational development;

* experience teaching large (>150 enrolment) undergraduate courses;

* experience in administering large undergraduate courses;

* experience in providing effective high-impact learning experiences for undergraduate students, especially in an online environment;

* demonstrated interest and/or experience in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
