Open-rank Faculty Position in Applied and Computational Mathematics

Description:
The Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics at Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science in New York City invites applications for one faculty position at the assistant professor, associate professor or full professor level for up to one year, starting in the Fall 2017 or Spring 2018. The teaching load is one course per semester.

The Applied Mathematics Program within APAM has strong research and educational programs in Applied and Computational Mathematics and its applications in many areas of Applied and Engineering Physics, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Biological Sciences.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree, in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics or a related field. The ideal candidate is one who is a very strong applied and computational mathematician with a record of high-quality teaching graduate (Ph.D.) level courses in core applied mathematics, such as applied partial differential equations, applied stochastic and multiscale analysis, and other important areas at the frontier of modern applied mathematics, a research profile compatible with Columbia Applied Mathematics faculty, and an interest in contributing to activity in the Applied Math Program through interactions with students, postdocs, participation in seminars etc.
