Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Northern Kentucky University invites applications from excellent individuals for one tenure-track position in either mathematics or mathematics education at the assistant professor level to begin August 2018. 

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Teach 12 credits per semester during the academic year 
  2. Establish and maintain a successful research program 
  3. Fulfill service requirements 
  4. Other duties as assigned 
In addition to the above responsibilities, candidates for an assistant professor of mathematics education would also help supervise student-teachers.

Qualifications
Mathematics
  • Ph.D. in Mathematics 
  • Demonstrated skills or commitment to undergraduate instruction 
  • Plans for scholarly activity that involve students 
  • Scholarly interests that could lead to relationships with local businesses, industries, or government agencies
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds
Mathematics Education 
  • Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, including 18+ hours in graduate-level mathematics courses
  • Experience in outreach and/or profession development 
  • At least one year of (P-12) school experience 
  • Interests that could lead to building relationships with P-12 schools
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds
