Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics at The University of Arizona invites applications for tenure-track/tenured positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. We are accepting applications in any research area in mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics. Members of the department create, communicate, and apply mathematics of the highest caliber through activities such as internationally recognized research and graduate education, award winning undergraduate programs, and extensive outreach to local schools. The department's faculty includes two Regents' Professors, two University Distinguished Professors, and numerous recipients of national and international awards. Over the last five years, a large percentage of the faculty has been awarded grants and contracts from external funding agencies, with total awards averaging about $4.2 million per year.

The department offers PhD, MS, and MA programs in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, and it provides major contributions to the Graduate Interdisciplinary Degree Programs in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Faculty members are expected to maintain an active research program, to participate in both undergraduate and graduate education, and to carry out advising duties and committee assignments. The normal teaching load for research active faculty is nine units for the academic year (the equivalent of three one-semester courses each year).

Candidates are expected to have a PhD by the time of appointment. Candidates are expected to have excellent research potential or record and a strong commitment to teaching.
