Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics


The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, renewable non-tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Science and Technology to begin in August 2018. The position is primarily dedicated to undergraduate teaching. A doctorate in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field with 18 graduate hours in Mathematics is required by the start of the appointment. The successful candidate must be able to engage in effective teaching.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics and advising students seeking the department’s Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.  The expected teaching load is four courses per semester. Experience teaching introductory mathematics or mathematics education courses at the college level, research activity related to the teaching and learning of mathematics and participation in collaborative proposals and projects across departmental, discipline and college boundaries with private, state and federal funding entities will be considered positively.
