Position Description:    

The Department of Mathematics and Physics at the University of New Haven seeks to fill a a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2018. We are looking for an energetic teacher-scholar to join our warm and welcoming faculty in a moment of great opportunity, as we are adding a new Masters program in Applied and Computational Mathematics. Candidates should specialize in either some area of probability and statistics, or in applied and computational mathematics. Our new colleague will help to support the Masters program and also have the opportunity to teach a large variety of math courses at the undergraduate level.

Required qualifications for the position are an earned doctorate in mathematics (strong ABD candidates will be considered), a record of teaching and research excellence, a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student populations, academic outreach, and promoting techniques of effective and innovative instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Excellent interpersonal skills and a sincere interest in promoting student success are essential. Ideally, a candidate should possess a strong background in computing and experience in the use of technology and software in computational, numerical or statistical mathematics education. Prior experience working on interdisciplinary teams or promoting industry-education collaborations would be a plus.
