Position Announcement Tenure-track Position in Mathematics

California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor in Mathematics to begin Fall 2018. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics; ABD candidates will be considered, with the doctoral degree to be conferred by the position’s start date. The successful candidate will: • Demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching in mathematics courses at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum to a diverse student population, • Demonstrate an ability to advise and mentor students from groups that are historically underrepresented in STEM fields • Demonstrate interest and experience in mentoring undergraduate research in mathematics for a diverse student population. • Demonstrate potential for productive scholarship in the fields of mathematics or statistics Prior mathematics and/or statistics teaching experience, an active research program that enhances the intellectual vitality of the mathematics program, and the potential to provide service to the Mathematics Department and the University are desirable.

The Department of Mathematics is a vibrant community of mathematicians, with faculty collaborations, a regular seminar series, and an active Math Club. Our program features small classes that emphasize faculty-student interaction, access to computer laboratories and in-classroom technology, and an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Our program offers the degrees of B.S. and B.A. in Mathematics, minors in Mathematics and Scientific Computing, and we will soon codify our program for future teachers into a distinct math major track.
