CIMAT is part of the Mexican council for science and technology CONACyT, and is formed by three departments in the fields of Mathematics, Probability and Statistics and Computer Sciences. The Probability and Statistics Department faculty consists of nine researchers in the fields of Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes, and nine researchers in Statistics and its applications. The Department maintains fruitful cooperation  with many prestigious institutions around the world and constitutes one of the most active and renowned research groups in Latin America.

The position is to be appointed for eighteen months, starting after July of 2018. The candidates are required to have a Ph.D. degree in an area of Probability and Statistics awarded after July 2015 and by the time the appointment starts.
