Position Description: The Department of Mathematics at Cleveland State University has an opening for an Assistant College Lecturer. The starting date of the appointment is August 20, 2018. The Department of Mathematics offers B.S., B.A., and M.S degrees in Mathematics, and an M.S. in Mathematics with a Specialization in Applied Statistics. The University, the College of Sciences and Health Professions, and the Department seek to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. The successful applicant is expected to teach four courses per semester. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in department and university service. 

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics earned or anticipated by July 1, 2018; at least one year of experience teaching college-level mathematics or statistics courses; strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience teaching college-level mathematics or statistics; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students; experience with innovative methods of instruction and assessment (including on-line homework systems); demonstrated efforts to enhance student engagement and success; a Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics earned or anticipated by July 1, 2018; ability to teach upper division or advanced courses in mathematics or statistics; demonstrated professional development such as participating in workshops on teaching mathematics; evidence of leadership in an academic environment, such as coordination of multi-sectioned courses; demonstrated service contributions in an academic environment; evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to contribute through teaching, and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This hiring is contingent on maintaining the existing levels of funding from the State of Ohio.
